Boom
They stand all huddled by the door
As he steps forward inspecting the crowd
Boom
Another collapses to the floor
They all try there best to not make a sound
The goal is to not make your self a target
The goal is to survive
But one stands far from it
As the two lock eyes
He points the barrel at you
Beckoning you to stand

“He doesn’t deserve to know ya!” He said bitterly.
I remained silent to gather my thoughts. I wasn’t talking to that 18 year old I used to know. We are now in our fifties.
“You’re so much older now and so am I. What are you afraid of? There are people here from my past that I don’t care to see.”
A few familiar female faces walked passed us and smiled upon entering the restaurant. The warm bea...
We piled into the auditorium with loud chatter filling the room. We only assumed it was another assembly about saying no to drugs or cyber bulling, not that anyone listened to them anyway. In the grand auditorium of St. Mary's High School, students gathered for the annual Academic Achievement Assembly. The room buzzed with excitement and nervous energy as the principal took to the stage, her voice echoing through the halls.
As she began to announce the recipients of various awards, all eyes turned to Lily, a quiet but brilliant student known for her exceptional grades and dedicatio...
Standing at the podium of his local church in the light of Sunday looking out into the crowd of 15 some people Jim’s wrinkled hand shaked through his baby blue flannel. The world was silent to him now, only hearing the church organ’s play. He stood on the altar holding a flyer. It was a very intimate church with some deteriorating stained glass that tinted the room with crimson. The pastor spoke b...

“We now call to order the Great Council and proceed with the reading of today’s agenda.” The commanding voice boomed through the stone room. Each one of the thirteen gathered people at the table sat at rigid attention. No shuffling nor sniffling broke the quiet that followed the authoritative voice.
