My Mother in Nature

I sink into the soil

And feel my breath

Fuller than when I was before

My fingertips brush the leaves

So delicate and poised

But it is that feel

That lets my eyes blink closed in comfort

The wooded around me

With the branches of paths

Spread out across this lair

It feels like home.

And they call my name

But I’m too far

In this woods is my home

I am free

As are these trees

For the air in here is pure

The outside world may tremble

And all built may crumble

But here in this wooded hug

I have nothing to fear at all.

For I have come

To heed my mother’s call.
