Looking At You

Looking at you doesn’t feel right

My gaze so cold yet you remain unphased

I can’t recognize you like I’m looking through stained glass, my view of you turns foggy

“I thought I meant more to you than that!”

Words feel useless, it’s not like you care anyway

“Yeah I thought so too.”

Looking at you makes it hard to breathe

Like I’m running after you in an endless game of tag

But I’m always the one chasing

“I don’t want to play these games anymore”

Huffing and puffing, not being able to catch up

I can’t play anymore, I’ll just end up getting hurt

“What are you talking about”

Looking at you makes my tears sting

The sweet nothings and loving phrases that used to be shared, now replaced with bitter tones and empty promises

Maybe it was just a facade, I’ll never be able to tell

“I don’t think we should be together anymore”

My tears cloud my vision though it’s for the best, I wouldn’t be able to stand looking at you anyway

“Yeah, I think you’re right”
