Nights

With the winter of the night now passing and Brit awakening to the spring of morning, she sat up on the unfamiliar bed and said aloud

“What the fuck just happened”.

Fluorescent lights overhead and beeping monitors in close proximity, with the uncomfortable hospital chairs taken by her now slumbering friends Tyler and Jada.

Brit felt herself, her jean cut offs feeling damp, her small white tank top stained with an familar brown substance. Breathing in and out she felt fine, her second breath shocking Jada awake.

“Oh good, you’re okay Brit,” Jada said.

“How did my simple breath wake you up?” Brit asked.

“You know I’m an incredibly light sleeper, especially after the chaos of last night.” Jada said.

“What chaos?” Brit asked staring Jada down, her wearing the same outfit from the night before, her black cargo pants appearing scuffed, but her long dark hair hiding most of the small baby tee she had on.

“Oh, haha.” Jada said, tapping Tyler who’s legs lay over the armrest of the chair next to hers.

“Huh?” Tyler said, half awake.

“Brit was just asking about last night.” Jada said.

Tyler looked at Brit for a moment somewhat intently in her eyes, holding her gaze, then quickly swallowing and responding

“What about last night?”

“I don’t know what happened remotely, I just remember us being out and then bam I’m here” Brit said fussing in her bed.

“There’s almost too much to tell, better you use context clues.” Jada said.

Suddenly Brit realized she didn’t have many of her belongings. Her body felt sore, and Jada gave her a stare that made her shiver.
