Lies built upon lies.
Empty promises are leftover egg shells
Stolen cookies, rights illegally revoked
All starting at the drop of a stolen penny.
The tower of lies stands
A hungry wave waiting
The right time will strike
Before it can feast.
Unkept promises shatter hearts
The same way egg shells crack
Just a light tap and the glass breaks
A wrong move sends you falling through the ice
Cookies pi...
There she stood
Sad and alone
There she stood
With no place to call home
There she stood
Under the dark cloudy sky
There she stood
Unshed tears in her eyes
There she stood
Tired and sick
There she stood
Like a dying candle wick
There she stood
Her flame burning out
There she stood
A life lived full of doubt
There she fell
Hard to the ground
There she fell
Gone without a sound...
“I was just trying to be what you wanted,” she whispered, her voice almost gone completely now, from all the yelling. Shiny drops that had stubbornly remained blurring her vision were finally forced down with a quick blink. They forged a glistening trail down her cheeks, curving to her chin where they fell to the ground making tiny puddles.
Once they started, more continued to fall until she was...
I want to hate you
But I don’t
I want to love you
But I can’t
I want to be mad at you
But my heart won’t let me
I am mad.
Mad that I can’t hate you
Mad that I can’t love you,
And mad that you don’t love me
Angry at myself because
I’m so empathetic,
I can’t even punch my pillow
With my burning anger.
Why don’t you love me?
Why don’t I love you?...
Things that shatter:
Glass
Windows
Bottles
Trust - yours
Hearts - both mine and yours…
—————————
I broke your trust
It was my fault this time,
I know
Every night I lie awake
Staring at those old glowing stars
With insomnia. For your sake.
Wondering how things would be
If I said what I meant,
Then I would not have to plea
Sometimes I miss you and want you
To take me up in your arms and hold ...
You were like my sister
Sometimes it felt like we were more
Other times like we were strangers
Call me sappy and soft,
But where others sing of freedom
I sing of that heart-wrenching ache
That settles itself deep inside the soul
Finding in it a nice home to reside
Refusing to leave until you die
I hope you don’t go with the same pain
That I feel every time you throw me aside
Like a useless, un...
Before
If I count the ways I love you, I would be
Counting the stars in the sky,
Drops of water in the ocean,
Every grain of the sand
From all the times we
Laid in the grass and looked at the night sky,
Took a boat out to the calm waters for a day
Ventured along on different beaches
Now
If I counted the ways I loved you
My hands would be peachy blobs
With burning waterfalls down my face
Seein...
You ask why the caged bird sings.
I ask why we cage the bird at all.
A bird caged sings for freedom
What does a free bird sing for?
You were born free,
Free without the need
To sing for the survival
Of you and your family
I was born caged
Singing was all I knew
The only thing I held onto
It kept us alive under the impression of freedom
The thing about being free,
Is that sooner or later, you w...
“So who’s going to die today?” Clark asked, rubbing his hands together. He plopped down on the gym bleachers. The principal and teachers stood around keeping the kids in line while everyone waited for this week’s Messenger to show up with the Death Envelope.
“Clark, these are real people’s lives. You can’t treat them like they’re worthless,” a girl above him smacked him on the back of his head, b...
