This feeling, this wrongness, this wrinkled sadness that only time and experience can bring upon oneself. I wish I didn’t know it.
This kind of wisdom isn’t worth its cost. I am not merely talking about some “be dumb, be happy” shitty ideals. I am talking about the gall and glass left at my throat as psychological souvenirs of the past....
I should have seen this coming
But I must have been too preoccupied
13 is a taxing age
It was a taxing year
Taxing times
Tax money torn from our hands
Taxed to line old money pockets
Was this the start?
I still can't pinpoint the date
Was I even thirteen?
I think it was a Saturday
I didn't see this coming
I didn't see it as it hit me
I see it now
The penny dropped years ago
Our final penn...
(And a true one)
I have a nine year old sister, her name is Beatrice but everyone calls her Buzzy.
And she is powerful.
When she was born she was the quietest, sleepiest baby in the seven seas. (Her name means peaceful voyager)
But-there’s a legend, that if a baby like that suddenly becomes mischievous, loud, and chaotic overnight, then that baby must be a changling. Swapped out for a fairy. (Not...
On a foggy morning, two girls sit on a bench. Snowflakes drift by. The girl on the right sees them and sighs, wondering when the weather will finally warm up. The girl on the left sees them and smiles, wishing it would stay cold forever.
"You know, Emily, maybe you shouldn't do this..." the girl on the right sounds uncertain.
"Why?" Emily responds, head turning to look at her. Her expression sta...
My head was throbbing with pain, my nose stuffed with blood ridden tissue as I stared down at the mess of papers on my desk. Sorrens desk was across from me, where he was also looking at a slew of neatly arranged papers. He glanced up to me from time to time, his expression showing his concern.
“You should rest. You barely-“
“I’m fine.”
Sorrens eyes furrowed slighted and I sighed. “Sorry. I… This...
The letter sat on the kitchen counter, its innocuous presence mocking me with the weight of its contents. I knew what it held, yet a part of me desperately wished to remain in ignorance, to shield myself from the harsh truths that lurked within those carefully penned words. With trembling hands, I reached out, my fingertips grazing the crisp edges of the paper as if it were a venomous serpent pois...
She dropped it on me like a bomb onto a major city. “I thought you knew,” she said. I didn’t know. What do I do with this information. Do I try to figure out the truth? Is it my business to?
It’s my dad, of course it’s my business… but is it acceptable to bring up somone else’s trauma just for information? Potentially trigger them and send them into a relapse solely because I want facts? That’s a...
I couldn’t even focus at the grocery store today. Went for carrots and came home with a bag of apples. One thing, and I couldn’t keep my mind off what Morgan told me. The randomness of it, the disgusting nature of it … I can’t get it out of my head. And then I wondered if they’ve told anybody else. Am I the only one who knows? And if so, why tell me? Because now it has to live with me, to suffer w...
“I know who killed Walker,” I Spat out. I had the proof in my hand, I didn’t want to say anything, but I knew I had to make this right. If I was the target because I knew—**_so be it. _**
“Is this all the evidence?” He asked, then I nodded.
He ran his finger on the pages, “You have a real future in detective work, your brain works in riddles. This—right here—is more effort than any of the police ...
